Mom opened Grandma's old wooden box filled with photos and stories of family I never knew, and suddenly I felt like I was part of something so much bigger. Later, some older kids wouldn't let me play soccer, which was a bummer, but I found myself drawing the faces from the box, imagining all their adventures. It's funny how the world can be so complicated, but finding out about my great-grandfather made me feel really connected.
